I was asked to administer a Fun Comp being organised by Anne Kenny in Mountaineering Ireland. I was heading up the Dublin leg of the comp in Awesome Walls in Finglas, there were also simultaneous comps being held in Tolymore and Awesome Walls Cork.

It was a great day and we had 10 competitors in all in Categories C-D-E and a good mix of boys and girls. The comp was those who had never taken part in a climbing competition before to give them the experience. There was some good climbing done and well done to all the winners.

I had some fantastic help from others, especially Eamon in Awesome, to belay and judge and I could not have done it without them. Help also came from Aoife, Ciara and Matthew who set up the top ropes for us and demo’d when required. There were three top rope routes and three boulder problems for each category.
