Rock Climbing
I have decided that the Girls are having so much fun rock climbing that I want to have a go. It has been over 20 years since I was on a rock face. Back in those days inside walls were a luxury and few and far between. OCahan Rock in Roe Valley near Limavady was the main place we climbed and a few around Donegal that I can not remember the names of.
Anyway the girls are members of Winders and climb in UCD and Gravity. My daughter had her 11th birthday party in Gravity and it was then I decided to actually get serious about it again. The week before one of out Scouters, 29th Dublin Blackrock Scout Group, took a few leaders out in Dalkey Quarry to show us anchoring of the ropes and to have a couple of climbs, see here for more details and a few pics.
One of the other Dads from Winders is also interested in doing a bit of climbing as well and we intend to do our learn to lead course in UCD soon. I then intend to do one out in Dalkey quarry as well to get the best of both worlds. The other Dad like me has done a bit of climbing before but did not get the piece of paper.
I have definitely been bitten by the Rock Climbing bug and intend to keep a log of my climbs and course on this Blog so keep coming back to see what is new.
